Tenuta Arangio / Agriturismo Vendicari
The old family farmhouse.
Located in the green countryside at the foot of the Iblean Mountains, in the far south-eastern edge of Sicily near Capo Passero and the Isola delle Correnti, and bordering the famous Vendicari nature and wildlife oasis, the estate has belonged to the Arangio family since 1890.
The accommodation was created by restoring the old family farmhouse, preserving the typical architecture of the Iblean “baglio”, together with the areas once used for processing and storing the estate’s main agricultural products: wine, oil and wheat.
Original architecture and comfort.
The property extends over about 10 hectares, currently cultivated with olive trees and arable crops, with a small area covered by greenhouses for intensive horticulture.
Since the 1960s, with the end of sharecropping, it became the Arangio family’s country house, used mostly in summer. Built with typical local materials—tuff blocks, Modica stone, Noto stone and extensive use of wood—the structure faithfully respects its original layout.
Wine press, cellar and restaurant.
Today the property includes a large lounge, a wine bar created from the old wine press, a well-stocked cellar, a tasting and sales area for estate and local products, a spacious restaurant hall and a large, well-equipped kitchen.
The garden and courtyard are surrounded by dry-stone walls built according to ancient techniques. The perimeter of the building is enriched by flowerbeds containing many endemic and rare tree species of south-eastern Sicily.
A 16 m x 9 pool surrounded by greenery.
From the restaurant hall, through a large patio, you access the swimming pool surrounded by olive trees and palms. The whole perimeter of this green area is enclosed by a three-metre-high wall, ensuring privacy, discretion and tranquillity for our guests.
